How often should the engine oil of a diesel generator set be changed?

Diesel Generator Set Oil Change Interval (hours/calendar time, change whichever comes first; oil change requires filter replacement)

1. First maintenance after new engine/major overhaul (break-in period): Change engine oil and filter after 50 operating hours to remove break-in metal debris.

2. Regularly used units (daily/frequent power generation):
- Ordinary mineral diesel engine oil: 250 hours or 1 month, whichever comes first
- High-quality full synthetic diesel engine oil: 400–500 hours or 6 months, whichever comes first
- Harsh conditions (dusty construction sites, high temperature, full load, frequent start-stop): change every 150–200 hours

3. Standby units (firefighting/emergency, rarely used throughout the year): Even if cumulative hours have not been reached, change oil at least once a year (oil can oxidize or absorb water and emulsify); if unused for more than six months, prioritize oil change before starting.

Additional reminders:
1. If oil turns black, thins, turns milky from water contamination, or oil pressure is abnormal, change oil immediately in advance.
2. For original factory models, follow the manufacturer's maintenance instructions preferentially.
