Functions of QSK60 Exhaust Manifolds
The exhaust manifold is designed so that it can remove the exhaust gases from the individual cylinders. This is precisely why it has its curved design. The hot exhaust gases from the cylinders flow through the turbo manifold and from here into the turbocharger or a pipe, where they are collected. Only then are they cleaned and continue into the exhaust system. From the engine side, the exhaust gases usually enter the manifold horizontally and are directed downwards from here.
Tuning in particular tries to design the manifold to be as flow-optimized as possible.
