After the mains power outage, the complete operation procedure for diesel generator sets (divided into manual operation and automatic control types, suitable for beginners to learn)

 

Ⅰ. Automatic Unit (ATS dual power cabinet, fastest startup)

Most construction sites/machine rooms come standard with no need for manual supervision

1. After mains power failure, ATS detects phase loss/zero voltage, with a 3–10 second delay (avoiding instantaneous flashes).

2. The control cabinet automatically sends a start signal, and the starter starts to ignite

3. The unit speed increases and voltage stabilizes; when voltage and frequency meet standards, the ATS automatically switches load power supply

4. After mains power is restored: ATS switches back to mains with a delay, and the unit automatically shuts down after 3–5 minutes of no-load cooling

 

Ⅱ. Manual control cabinet units (no ATS, rapid emergency operation)

1. Preliminary Safety Isolation (Mandatory)

Open the main power switcher and hang a warning sign reading "No closing the switch, someone is working."

 

2. Startup steps

1. Turn the control cabinet key to power on and observe the instrument: oil pressure, water temperature, and initial voltage values are normal

2. Cold Winter Temperature: Turn on the preheat switch to preheat for 10–30 seconds to reduce the chance of startup failure

3. Switch to manual start, press and hold the start button for 3–5 seconds to ignite; Each start should not exceed 8 seconds, and after failure, wait 15 seconds before trying again. If three consecutive unsuccessful attempts fail, stop checking the fuel system and battery

4. After starting the unit, idle for 1–3 minutes to warm up

5. Observe the instrument: voltage 380/220V, frequency 50Hz, oil pressure ≥0.2MPa, water temperature gradually rising

6. After all parameters stabilize, close the unit output switch and connect the load to a branch; do not run to full load instantly

Ⅲ. Hand-pulled/Small Portable Gasoline Units (Household Low Power)

1. Turn off all electrical equipment and disconnect the main incoming power switch

2. Add fuel and engine oil, turn on the fuel circuit switch, and set the damper to closed (cold machine).

3. Pull the start rope by hand, and after starting, slowly open the air shutter

4. After running for 1 stable minute, plug in the power strip to the electrical device

 

Ⅳ. Quick Start Speed Boost Tips (Shorten Power Supply Time)

1. Keep the battery fully charged daily, and run it empty for 10 minutes each month for maintenance

2. In winter, pre-fill antifreeze coolant and low-condensation diesel, and equip with preheating devices

3. Install a manual oil pump in the oil circuit to vent air after shutdown, avoiding the time required to start exhausting

4. Load deployment in batches, delayed closing of high-power equipment to prevent voltage drop and shutdown

5. ATS automatic cabinet minimum start delay (adjustable as needed, minimum 3 seconds)

 

Ⅴ. Emergency Troubleshooting of Startup Failure (Quick Location)

1. Starter not running: battery depleted, wiring loose, fuse blown

2. Motor not starting: lack of oil, fuel circuit intake, filter blockage, preheating failure

3. Pressure loss and shutdown after starting: insufficient oil, excessive load, governor failure

Ⅵ. Regulations for Shutdown and Restoration of Mains Power

After mains power is restored, first disconnect the unit output switch, unload the load, run no-load for 3–5 minutes to cool down, then shut down; Finally, close the main mains power switch to restore normal power supply.
