Detailed Disassembly and Function of Core Electrical Control and Power Components of Diesel Generator Set (Part 1)
1. Three-piece speed regulation system: speed sensor, governor board, actuator (core for controlling rotational speed/frequency)
1. Speed sensor (tachometer probe/magnetoelectric sensor)
- Installation location: next to the flywheel ring, close to the diesel engine flywheel gear
- Working principle: magnetoelectric induction, the flywheel gear cuts the magnetic field to generate an AC voltage signal

- Core functions:
1. Collect the actual speed of the diesel engine in real time and convert it into an electrical signal sent to the governor board;
2. The governor board relies on this signal to compare with the set rated speed and determine whether the unit is running fast or slow;
3. Without the speed signal, the governor system fails, and the unit cannot maintain a stable speed or may even fail to start;
4. For synchronized grid-connected units, the speed signal is also the basis for synchronous frequency regulation.

- Malfunction symptoms: surging, unstable idle, inability to start, RPM fault reported.
